Rockefellar Center, Central Park, Vacation in NYC! Where do I start…..
We rented an apartment through Air BnB. The location was perfect however the cleanliness had much to be desired. I scrubbed the place before Jeni got there and I assure you I have written a letter to AirBNB asking for our $175 cleaning deposit back. We were located on the corner of 49th street and 9th avenue. 2 blocks south was Times Square, 3 blocks East was Rockefellar Center and 6 blocks North was Central Park.
Jeni and I did a lot of walking, A LOT OF WALKING! But we loved it even though my hip and lower back didn’t. We did use a cab when necessary and I took a bath in epsom salt every night!
After getting tickets to Jimmy Fallon’s monologue rehearsal for Friday May 8th, Jeni got an email saying it had been cancelled. So we requested tickets for Wed. May 6th. and got ’em! 2:50 on Wednesday we went to Jimmy’s rehearsal of his monologue! It was very cool, we stood in line a lot, met the the interns, the security guard Jeni called Ben Affleck (he was tall and handsome like Ben Affleck). We were threatened with our lives about cell phones and they had to be off and Mr. Fallon DID NOT sign autographs or take pictures.
So, Jimmy finished his monologue of which during we learned that Bob Costas was sitting in front of us 🙂 and I was the last person at the end of line to be excorted out. I begged Ben (hot seciruty guard) to ask Jimmy to sign my Bathroom Wall CD (one that Jimmy did in 2000) and of course “Mr. Fallon doesn’t sign autographs during the rehearsal.” No sooner when Ben said this Jimmy walks over with his hand out, “Hi, I’m Jimmy Fallon.” THIS REALLY HAPPENED!!! Jeni stood there collecting flies and I got a little nervous. Jimmy looked at my purse prompting me to ask for his autograph. He gladly signed but then had to start talking to Bob Costas.
9/11 Memorial was incredibly moving. Really a time of rememberance and reflection. We bought white roses and laid them across different areas of the names. Loved Les Miserables’ ! So happy I got to see it before its hiatus. Jeni was able to get us tickets to The Late Show with David Letterman. We saw show number #10 before his retirement. Dave Mathews Band and Ray Romano were the guests. It was super cool being at one of his last shows. One of the best times ever had! I am so glad Jeni and I did this!
